I’m a work-from-home mom, owner of Well Minded, a professional pet sitting service, which I opened in 2005 in Phoenix, Arizona. My days consist mostly of happily (usually) juggling my three children, my pet sitting visits, my writing, and my laundry.
I grew up in the beach cities of southern California, pet sitting part time for practically my whole life. My first client was a Siberian Husky who lived two doors down…I think I was twelve, or so. I graduated from California State University, Long Beach with a degree in Art History, which I recently put to good use by teaching my son’s kindergarten Art Masterpiece program. (Oh, yeah, I love to stalk my children under the guise of volunteerism.) I worked as an account manager at a graphic design firm before flying the coop to spread my wings on my own as a professional pet sitter.
Pet sitting and working from home allows me the freedom to work and spend time with animals and work and spend time with my children. Yes, work. Though I love almost every minute of it, it’s hard work. I’ve always got each foot in a different puddle, managing my career and my household. It’s not easy, but the flexibility this lifestyle provides is remarkable.
I’m trying really, really hard to become an official vegan, but for now, you could say, I’m making more vegan choices, or as my good friend put it, I’m a flexitarian. I do really well most of the time, but about once a month the devil in me begs my husband to fetch me a giant In-N-Out extravaganza-of-a-meal, which I devour, lick my lips like a deprived wolf, and then get back on the wagon, my denial of my own actions allowing me to live with myself.
Thanks for checking me out! Please introduce yourself so I can meet you!
